Hymans Robertson LGPS knowledge assessment launching soon
21 Sep 2022
Hymans Robertson will launch its latest nationwide LGPS assessment of knowledge and understanding, one week today, on 28 September. The National Knowledge Assessment is an opportunity for LGPS funds to assess the knowledge levels of key decision-makers and compare these on a nationwide basis.
Following the success of the leading pensions and financial services consultancy’s 2018’s National Confidence Assessment, and 2020 National Knowledge Assessment, this year’s assessment will provide key evidence and information regarding training requirements to all participating LGPS funds and will form part of a National Report to allow each Fund to benchmark their position. In addition the assessment will also provide funds with an insight into technical, decision-making and roles and responsibility knowledge with the Committee and Board members.
Andrew McKerns, Senior Governance and Administration Consultant, explains why this is the perfect time for funds to get involved:
“Following two years unlike any we’ve seen before, this is the first post-pandemic national assessment to take place in the LGPS. With the assessment launching on 28th September, we’re urging all LGPS funds to take part to help determine gaps in knowledge and enable tailored training for the future.
“The pandemic has driven fundamental changes in the LGPS, from new ways of working and the growth of online tools, through to better remote training expectations from members. The results from the assessment are vital to help funds deliver and track the success of their training plans and meet the best governance standards expected of the scheme.”
