What is LOLA?

We know it’s a challenge to cover important training at quarterly meetings. That’s why we developed the Local Government Pension Scheme Online Learning Academy (LOLA): an online training plan covering core knowledge in an efficient, engaging way.

Launched in 2021, LOLA is a video-on-demand learning plan with training materials and knowledge checks covering the core requirements of the Pension Regulator’s General Code of Practice and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy's Knowledge and Skills Framework.

Our online platform

Funds receive regular progress reports to simply evidence members’ knowledge and skills. Funds can also record training, so they have the evidence they need for Committees, Boards and Officers.

National Knowledge Assessment

LOLA mirrors the National Knowledge Assessment (NKA) topics. It covers all the areas needed to successfully manage a fund, including committee role and pensions legislation, governance, administration, accounting and audit standards, procurement and relationship management, financial markets and product knowledge, plus actuarial methods, standards and practices.

There is also a regularly updated current issues module, features hot topics like cyber risk and McCloud understanding.
