We acknowledge the government's ambitions and aspirations for the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
If done in the correct way, the LGPS could access greater benefits of scale through further consolidation and greater consistency of approach. However, there are risks to the delivery as it is currently proposed. We believe greater consideration is required to prevent risks and unintended consequences for the LGPS and the United Kingdom.
We've collaborated with over 25 LGPS funds, industry experts and service providers to co-produce a report in response to the government's current "Fit for the future" consultation. Its purpose is to consider the investment strategy proposals within the consultation in more detail and present a carefully designed alternative solution which better meets the needs of funds, pools and government.
