From secure software development to industry-leading cyber-protection systems that protect our cloud, the security of our systems and data is our priority. We use a multi-layered, proactive approach to protect our technology, putting security at the forefront of every solution we build.  

We’re proud to hold ISO 270001 and Cyber Essentials certifications. 

We protect our work by: 

• Encouraging close collaboration between operational and software delivery teams to inform our multi-disciplinary security expert group.
• Scanning and monitoring our technology estate for potential vulnerabilities, so we can respond to threats quickly.  
• Reinforcing that security is everyone’s responsibility, regardless of role.  

Our expert group works with the whole firm so everyone knows how to work securely.  

Data powers everything we do. 

Our data engineering group oversees projects across the firm, focusing on data asset architecture tools, technologies and practices. We also have a spin-off Python learning group, encouraging peer-to-peer teaching and support.  

We aim to:  

• Advise on technical options, like creating proof of concept solutions for the business to assess.
• Improve how we store, transport and manage data, spotting opportunities to reduce costs or improve performance.  
• Improve the flow of data throughout teams and propositions using our data journey initiatives. 

The Digital Architecture Forum (DAF) was created to make the most of our digital resources through best practices in architecture. 

We focus on: 

• increasing the value of our assets
• improving effectiveness
• maintaining standards and principles for designing and developing software
• reviewing our technology to address issues 
• keeping our systems running smoothly.

When we introduce third-party solutions, our technology approvals group help us choose right option.    

Innovation begins with understanding. We prize client insight and data. We design everything with the user in mind and actively engage with them to inform the apps, tools and websites we create.  

Our UX community is united around a shared interest in user experience. We promote peer-to-peer learning and best practice to develop and maintain our design system and component library.

• Use a human-centred design approach to build products that satisfy needs and solve problems.
