Hymans Robertson has appointed Mike Johnson to join its Birmingham office as a Partner in DB Investment. He will focus on growing the office’s Defined Benefit (DB) investment team to enable it to meet the increased demand for Hymans’ investment consultancy services both locally and across the UK.

Mike joins the leading pensions and financial services firm from Aon, where he was also a partner and had worked for almost 20 years on some of the UK’s largest DB schemes. In his role at Hymans Robertson he will work with some of our largest existing clients and use his significant network across the UK to lead the growth and further development of the investment consulting business.

The Hymans Robertson Birmingham office continues to expand, offering the full range of pensions services across DB and DC schemes, including actuarial, third-party administration, risk transfer services and investment.

Anthony Ellis, Partner and Head of Investment Consultancy at Hymans Robertson welcomes Mike to the firm:

“We are thrilled to welcome Mike to our firm. His vast experience means he will be a first-class addition to our investment team in Birmingham. The expertise he brings will enable us to further extend our DB services from Birmingham as we continue to grow our award-winning team. We are committed to supporting and investing in DB until the last pension is paid and we will continue to support our clients until that happens.”

Mike Johnson, Partner adds:

“Hymans Robertson stands apart as one of the few truly independent consultancies in the industry, and I’m really excited to join the team and play a part in leading its growth. I’m relishing this opportunity to create something new in Defined Benefit investment.  Opportunities to do this are rare, so Hymans Robertson’s commitment to investing in both DB and regional growth in the Midlands is refreshing and I can’t wait to be at the heart of it.”
