Overview

Andrew has recently joined our Actuarial team from Mercer’s Melbourne office, where he provided consulting services to trustees of defined benefit, defined contribution, and long service leave funds. He was the signing actuary for a portable long service leave fund with assets of $2bn and provides advice to corporate clients on IAS19 accounting disclosures.

Andrew has experience of a variety of defined benefit projects including a landmark $619m annuity buy-in, the largest pension risk transfer in Australia. He also advised an insurer on the defined benefit market in Australia, and worked on a multi-employer defined benefit to defined contribution conversion, a successor fund transfer, and closure projections for a multi-employer defined benefit scheme.

Before Mercer, Andrew worked in the actuarial consulting team at XPS Pensions for four years, providing consulting services to trustees on defined benefit pension schemes with assets ranging from £5m to £500m. He also advised corporate clients on accounting disclosures and was part of the demographic specialist team, preparing tailored demographic assumption advice and maintaining the in-house COVID-19 scenario modeller. Andrew was involved in setting assumptions for this model during the pandemic and also managed GMP equalisation projects.
