James is a partner and head of Hymans Robertson's risk transfer solutions team.
He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2003 and joined Hymans Robertson in 2007. James' expertise is working with trustees and sponsoring employers to help them find opportunities to reduce their pension scheme's risks in a cost effective and intelligent way.
James and his risk transfer team have advised on well over 100 buy-in, buy-out and longevity swap transactions ranging from £5m to £5bn in size, including 27 with FTSE 100 sponsoring employers. These transactions have insured around £50bn of pension scheme liabilities.
James is also a regular speaker at conferences and his views on buy-ins, buy-outs and longevity hedging are often quoted in the press.
