Ali is the Head of Lloyd’s and London Market, with over a decade of experience in the General Insurance industry. Ali’s primary experience is focused on leading independent reserve reviews, reserve uncertainty analysis and reserve process reviews and transformations.
Ali also has experience heading up in-house reserving, selecting and communicating GAAP and Solvency technical provisions, as well as the development, testing and validation of various actuarial tools and models. Additionally, Ali has led various project based engagements, such as building and implementing new reserving models for global insurers, conducting latent claims reviews for the UK government, and supporting M&A activities by assessing reserves across multiple geographic locations.
More recently, Ali has been extensively involved in developing new reserving methods to address the evolving state of GI liabilities for newer risks like Cyber, Political Violence and sharing economy liabilities (AirBnB, Uber, DoorDash etc).
Ali sits on the General Insurance Lifelong Learning Committee (GILL) which is responsible to the GI Board for all matters relating to CPD being undertaken by the GI practice area; as well as development of the IFoA’s annual offering of GI conferences and seminars, including GIRO. Ali also sits on the Appropriate Person Pool, supporting IFoA members with Reflective Practice Discussions (RPDs), and also contributes to the IFoA Education team as an examiner.
Outside of work, Ali spends most of his time with his toddler, who has pushed out squash and tennis from his life, replacing it with farms and soft-play centres.
